Yuuri Shibuya is a regular high school student who loves baseball, until he intervenes when Ken Murata is being bullied and gets his head stuck in a toilet. The bizarre incident transports him to a new world where everyone is dressed in medieval attire and speaks an unfamiliar language. At first, Yuuri thinks it's some kind of theme park, but he quickly discovers that the locals are not welcoming and even attack him with rocks. Fortunately, Adalbert von Grantz comes to his rescue and uses magic to enable Yuuri to understand the language. Conrad Weller and Günter von Christ then help the two of them get to Blood Pledge Castle, which is where the Maou resides. It is there that Yuuri learns that he is the new Maou and must govern over the True Demonic Kingdom, or Shin Makoku. In addition, he is engaged to Wolfram due to a mistake. Throughout the series, Yuuri faces the consequences of his choices, even the smallest ones, because he has a unique power within him. As the new Maou, he becomes a fair ruler in Shin Makoku.
