The commencement of the class is met with a nonchalant announcement regarding the tragic loss of Sheena Totsuki's roommate. This revelation reminds the orphans that their daily routine in the institution will not be disturbed, as death is not an unfamiliar occurrence. The youngsters have been trained as soldiers and are sent to battlefields daily due to the perpetual conflict in their homeland. Sheena is an exception and longs for a resolution to the ongoing war, unlike her peers. On the day of her roommate's untimely demise, Sheena encounters a young girl with bloodstains on her clothes. Despite her appearance, the girl, Mimi Kagari, is vibrant and jovial. The orphanage's administration enrolls her as a new student the following day, referring to her as a weapon and instilling an unshakeable reputation for her indestructibility. Sheena is given the responsibility of being Mimi's new roommate, and they both strive to adjust to school life as well as to form a bond. As the two girls develop their relationship under dire circumstances, Sheena notices Mimi's optimistic approach towards the war, which makes her uneasy. She is caught in a quandary between comprehending the world and reconciling her beliefs.
